The Steelworkers’ Archives is inviting you to an upcoming Labor History Conference.

With the Pennyslvania Labor History Society, we are co-sponsoring a conference, Bethlehem Steel and the Lehigh Valley Workers’ Memorial: 25 th Anniversary on September 16 and 17.

An Awards banquet will be held on Friday, September 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Saucon Valley Acres. This banquet will feature music, entertainment. The award dinner includes beer and wine and will cost $34.95. The banquet will host the presentation of three PLHS labor history awards.

  •  Award in recognition of organizing work will be given to Dennis Hower, Brian Taylor and Daniella DeLeon of Teamsters Local 773.
  •  Award in recognition of labor leadership will be given to George Bonser of SPFPA Local 522, Sands Casino Bethlehem Security Guards.
  • Award in recognition of educational outreach will be given to Lester Clore, Speaker’s Bureau, Steelworkers’ Archives.

The conference continues on Saturday, September 17 at St. John’s Windish Lutheran Church. TheSaturday conference includes the following:

Carol Henn – growing up on Bethlehem’s South Side

Frank Behum – links between steel work and South Side communities

12 noon - 1:00 p.m. - Tour of St. John’s Windish Lutheran Evangelical Church with Steelworkers’ Overtime Lunch

1:00 – 3:00 p.m. - Steeples and Steel mini bus tour

3:00 – 4:30 p.m. - NMIH tour
