DESCRIPTION:The Steelworkers’ Archives is sponsoring Memories of Steel: the Last Cast\, a 20th anniversary commemoration of the last cast of iron in Bethlehem. Bethlehem’s hot end closed on November 18\, 1995 with the last cast from the C furnace\, ending iron and steel making at the plant. While the majority of shops stayed open at the Bethlehem mill\, the closing of the last blast furnace was a profound event for steelworkers\, the Bethlehem Steel Corporation\, and the entire community. This anniversary will be remembered with a panel discussion of steelworkers present on that day and actual video footage of the last cast.
